Tell Naked Juice to Get Serious About Honest Labeling

For decades, major food companies have been labeling products that contain genetically engineered and synthetic ingredients as “All Natural.”  The good news is that this is beginning to come to an end.

As part of its recent class action lawsuit settlement, Naked Juice, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, has agreed to remove the label “All Natural” from all of its juices and to pay $9 million to the class action group.

An important part of this class action lawsuit is to appoint a non-profit to receive any unclaimed funds that have been designated to consumers, so it can continue to pursue improvements in accurate labeling throughout the industry.  Yet, Naked Juice doesn’t want this to happen and is trying to appoint two non-profits who have nothing to do with accurate labeling!

Tell Naked Juice that you demand a real commitment to honest labeling and that Food Democracy Now! should be the appointed non-profit to this settlement!

A copy of your letter of support will be delivered to the the CEOs of Naked Juice and PepsiCo and a copy will also be given to the court on your behalf:

Dear Naked Juice and PepsiCo,

I urgently request that you remove the Mayo Clinic and local Legal Aid groups as the designated non-profit beneficiaries in the Naked Juice Class Action Lawsuit settlement (In re Naked Juice Cases) and replace them with Food Democracy Now!.

While the Mayo Clinic and local Legal Aid group are very fine non-profits, they do not work on accurate labeling.  It is a fundamental right of American consumers to be able to purchase products that are accurately labeled and we need organizations that are helping us pursue this goal.

Food Democracy Now! is a grassroots organization of more than 650,000 farmers and citizens dedicated to building a sustainable food system that protects our natural environment, sustains farmers and nourishes families.  A major emphasis of Food Democracy Now! is to ensure accurate labeling of all food products.

I urge you to appoint Food Democracy Now! as the designated non-profit beneficiary in the class action lawsuit settlement and remove The Mayo Clinic and local Legal Aid groups.
