Want to know what's in your food?

If the U.S. government has its way, the powerful intergovernmental group Codex Alimentarius may soon make it impossible to label food "GMO-free" for any country in the world. On May 3rd, 2010, Obama administration officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will travel to Canada for a special meeting to propose that Codex reject common sense labeling laws regarding GMO food products. Stand up for your right to know what's in your food and stop this sneak attack on GMO labeling, please sign below:

This letter will be sent to FDA Deputy Commissioner of Food Michael Taylor and USDA Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan:

Dear Mr. Taylor and Dr. Merrigan,

I am writing to strongly urge that the U.S. delegation to the Codex Committee on Food Labeling meeting follow sound science and existing U.S. law and FDA policy. The delegation must drop its stated opposition to Codex provisions allowing the labeling of genetically engineered food. Further, the U.S. delegation must express positions that recognize a clear 'difference' between genetically engineered foods and other foods.

    Sincerely,

    [Your name]
